    • On July 26, 2011, David Cohen clarified: If a customer is at least (only) a SoCal Edison customer, you go through the exact same process, and then ICF will adjust the incentive amount automatically to 68% of the total earned.  The LA County portion remains the same regardless of the utility.

  • If a customer participates with SoCal Gas only (not a SCE customer), are all the requirements for both Basic and Advanced programs the same?
    • Yes, all measures and requirements are the same as with SCE/SCG customers.

  • Can a home with a floor wall furnace (no AC ducts no heating) qualify for the basic upgrade package?
    • No. The home must have ducts in order for us to seal them.  A home like this is eligible for the Advanced package only.

  • Are the additional rebates for jobs submitted by Labor Day available to DWP and other Non-SoCal Edison customers?  If so what are the amounts?
    • Yes, there are the same bonus rebates from LA County.  That is, $2,000.00 if you achieve 20%.

  • What are the basic elements of the program?
    Air sealing
Sealing attic air leaks reduces drafts and keeps warm air from escaping during winter months. Combined with insulation, it is one of the most cost-effective ways to save energy.

    Attic insulation
Attic insulation keeps your house cool in the summer and warm in the winter. There are many types of insulations available, including low-emission and recycled content. Existing insulation must be R-11 or lower.

    Duct sealing
Leaky ducts can lose over 20% of conditioned air through holes and poor connections. Seal your ducts properly to make sure that your warm and cool air gets where it needs to go.

    Hot water pipe insulation
Insulating your hot water pipes saves energy and helps conserve water, since you won’t have to run the shower or faucets as long to get the water hot. Existing pipe insulation wrap allowed.

    Thermostatic shut-off valve
A thermostatic shut-off valve is a small device that attaches to your existing shower. It shuts off the shower once the cold water turns warm, in order to save hot water until you are ready to enter the shower. At that point, you simply turn the valve on to resume shower flow.

Combustion safety testing - (including installation of Carbon Monoxide (CO) monitor)
Combustion safety testing ensures that all of your gas appliances are venting correctly—providing you with safety and peace of mind.  This also ensures there are no gas or carbon monoxide leaks.

    Recommended: Low flow showerhead
